ADATA SE880 2TB Portable External SSD USB 3.2 Gen2x2
The ADATA SE880 2TB Portable External SSD USB 3.2 Gen2x2 is a pocket-sized solid-state drive built for professionals and enthusiasts who need to move large files at speed without carrying bulky hardware. It delivers read and write speeds of up to 2,000 MB/s over USB 3.2 Gen2 x2, making it suitable for direct A/V editing and other data-intensive work on the go. It works across Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iPhone, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S without additional software or drivers.
Why this product
Up to 2,000 MB/s read and write
USB 3.2 Gen2 x2 delivers up to 20 Gb/s throughput, which ADATA states is roughly 20 times faster than a typical external hard drive at around 100 MB/s.
Weighs just 31 g
At 64.8 × 35 × 12.25 mm and 31 g, it slips into a pocket or camera bag without adding meaningful weight to a travel kit.
Plug-and-play on consoles and mobile
It works with PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox ONE, Xbox Series X|S, iPad Pro 2018 or later, and a broad range of smartphones without needing additional software.
Both cables included in the box
A USB Type-C to C cable and a USB Type-C to A cable are included, so it connects to modern and legacy ports straight out of the box.
Five-year limited warranty
ADATA backs the drive with a 5-year limited warranty, which is longer than the 3-year coverage common on many competing portable SSDs.

- Full 2,000 MB/s speed requires a host port running USB 3.2 Gen2 x2 (20 Gbps); slower host ports will limit throughput accordingly.
Best for
- Video and audio editors who need to run intensive projects directly from an external drive rather than copying files first.
- Console gamers who want fast expanded storage for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S without carrying a large drive.
- Frequent travellers who prioritise a drive that is compact and light enough to forget it is in a bag.
- Multi-platform users who move files between Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS devices and need one drive that works across all of them.
Trade-offs
- Desktop workstation users seeking a drive that stays permanently connected; there is no mention of desktop mounting, enclosure integration, or desk-friendly form factor features.
- Users on older USB ports only: the drive's peak speed of 2,000 MB/s is only achievable with a USB 3.2 Gen2 x2 host; those without that port will not reach rated performance.
- High-temperature environments: the operating temperature ceiling is 50 °C (122 °F), which may be a concern in very warm climates or enclosed spaces.
Powerfully Compact
The SE880 supports USB 3.2 Gen2 x2, capable of reaching transmission speeds of 20Gb/s. This is twice as fast as USB 3.2 Gen 2x1 and 4 times faster than USB 3.2 Gen 1x1.
Fast Speeds of up to 2000 MB/s
The SE880 is capable of reaching read/write speeds of up to 2000MB/s, which is roughly 20 times faster than ordinary external hard drives, which only reach about 100MB/s. This allows you to directly perform intensive task right on the SE880, whether is A/V editing or other applications.
Plug-and-play across PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Mac, iPhone, and mobile devices, it combines ultra-compact portability with flagship-level performance.
