The ARCTIC Freezer 36 CPU Cooler is a dual-fan tower cooler designed for builders who want efficient CPU cooling without putting mechanical stress on their processor or motherboard. Its push-pull configuration with two 120mm fans and ARCTIC Contact Frame make it a practical choice for anyone upgrading from a stock cooler or building a quiet, long-lasting system. Compatible with both Intel and AMD platforms, it ships with MX-6 thermal compound and carries a 6-year warranty.

Why this product

Push-pull cooling with two 120mm fans

Two P12 PWM PST pressure-optimised fans work together in a push-pull arrangement, drawing air through the heatsink for more consistent airflow than a single-fan setup.

Contact Frame reduces CPU mechanical stress

The ARCTIC Contact Frame replaces Intel's Independent Loading Mechanism, which can exert over 40 kg of force on the CPU. The frame minimises deformation of the PCB, DIE and solder layer under thermal load.

No fan clips needed

An innovative click-system mounts both fans directly into the heatsink, making installation and fan replacement easier — even with the cooler already in place.

Four copper heatpipes for heat transfer

Four 6mm copper heatpipes carry heat away from the CPU contact base efficiently, while a screwed aluminium cover gives the top of the cooler a clean, finished look.

Fluid Dynamic Bearing for quiet, long-term use

Both fans use a Fluid Dynamic Bearing developed with a German alloy-and-lubricant combination that minimises friction and supports quiet operation across the full 200–1800 RPM range.

6-year warranty included

ARCTIC backs this cooler with a 6-year warranty, supported by long-term testing under varied operating conditions.

  • The ARCTIC Contact Frame is designed for Intel sockets; AMD mounting uses the standard backplate approach

Best for

  • Builders on Intel LGA1700 or LGA1851 who want to avoid the mechanical stress caused by Intel's stock Independent Loading Mechanism.
  • AMD AM4 and AM5 users looking for a dual-fan tower cooler compatible with current and recent platforms without extra adapters.
  • Quiet system builders who need PWM fan control, including a 0 RPM stop-below-5%-PWM mode for near-silent idle operation.
  • Those who value long-term ownership, given the 6-year warranty and Fluid Dynamic Bearing fans designed for durability.
  • Builders who want a clean aesthetic — the screwed aluminium cover hides the soldered heatpipe ends for a tidy finish.

Trade-offs

  • Continuous-duty or always-on workloads: the standard model uses Fluid Dynamic Bearing fans; the CO (Continuous Operation) variant with double ball bearings is better suited to 24/7 operation.
  • A-RGB lighting builds: this model has no RGB lighting. Separate A-RGB variants exist in the Freezer 36 line.
  • Very compact or low-profile cases: at 159mm tall and 126mm wide, clearance inside small-form-factor enclosures should be verified before purchase.
  • Environments outside 0–40 °C ambient: the cooler's rated operating temperature range does not cover use in unusually hot or cold rooms.

With its push-pull configuration, the Freezer 36 not only impresses with its efficient cooling performance, but also with its design. The soldered ends of the heatpipes are concealed by the screwed aluminium cover, allowing it to blend seamlessly into any PC setup and highlight both performance and appearance.

The Freezer 36 is multi-compatible with Intel and AMD sockets. Intel will release the new Arrow Lake processors on the LGA1851 socket in the future. We guarantee full compatibility. All Freezer 36 can be used with the new LGA1851 socket from Intel without limitation.

Thanks to the innovative mounting system, booth fans are effortlessly mounted in the heatsink using a click system. This mounting method eliminates the need for fan clips, making it easier to install the cooler or replace the fans, even if the cooler is already installed. The Freezer 36 is therefore compatible with most 120 mm fans.

Intel's Independent Loading Mechanism (ILM) deforms the CPU by pressing it into the socket at two points with over 40 kg. This causes pressure in the PCB, the DIE and the solder layer between the DIE and IHS (Integrated Heat Spreader). With high thermal load, this can lead to long-term problems.

The mounting frame from ARCTIC does not deform the CPU, reduces the mechanical load on the CPU massively, is quick and easy to install and allows the cooler to be screwed onto the CPU's backplate. As a result, mechanical stress on the mainboard and CPU is minimised, cooling performance remains consistent and installation is quick and uncomplicated.

Thanks to a combination of alloy and lubricant developed in Germany, friction within the bearing is minimised and greater efficiency is achieved.

The Freezer 36 is available in five different versions, all equipped with two fans in a push-pull configuration. In addition to the standard model with aluminium heatsink design, a version with a black heatsink is also available. For continuous operation, there is also the CO version, which is equipped with fans with double ball bearings. Alternatively, users can choose between a black and a white version with A-RGB fans.

To ensure the longevity of our products, we carry out long-term tests under different, sometimes very adverse conditions. In this way, we learn how we can permanently improve our products for our customers. In addition, the excellent results of long-term testing give us the assurance that our products are not only outstanding in terms of quality, but also in terms of durability.
