ASUS ROG Kithara Open-Back Planar Magnetic Gaming Headset
The ASUS ROG Kithara Open-Back Planar Magnetic Gaming Headset is built for gamers who want audiophile-grade sound without giving up in-game communication. It pairs ROG-customised 100mm HIFIMAN planar magnetic drivers with an open-back acoustic design to deliver a wide, natural soundstage and precise spatial detail. An on-cable full-band MEMS boom microphone and swappable 3.5mm, 4.4mm balanced, and 6.3mm plugs make it compatible with a broad range of sources out of the box.
Why this product
100mm HIFIMAN planar magnetic drivers
ROG-tuned 100mm planar magnetic drivers co-developed with HIFIMAN reproduce audio across an 8Hz–55kHz frequency range with low distortion and fine detail.
Open-back design for natural soundstage
The open-back architecture creates spacious, realistic audio with clear separation across bass, mids, and treble, which aids spatial awareness during play.
Full-band MEMS boom microphone included
The on-cable MEMS microphone covers 20Hz–20kHz with a -36 dB sensitivity rating, and a dual 3.5mm input arrangement prevents crosstalk between the headphone and mic signals.
Three plugs for broad source compatibility
The package includes a 4.4mm balanced plug, a 3.5mm single-ended plug, and a 6.3mm single-ended plug, plus a USB-C adapter, covering DACs, amplifiers, PCs, consoles, and mobile devices.
Interchangeable earcup cushions
Two sets of earcup cushions — leatherette with fabric and velour — are included so users can tailor comfort and acoustic character to their preference.
Metal frame with eight-level headband adjustment
An aluminum hinge and eight adjustment levels distribute weight across the head, reducing pressure during long gaming sessions.

Best for
- Competitive and immersive gaming — the open-back soundstage and wide frequency response help with positional audio cues.
- Audiophile-leaning gamers — 100mm planar magnetic drivers and a 8Hz–55kHz range suit listeners who prioritise sonic accuracy over added bass colouring.
- Multi-source setups — the included 4.4mm balanced, 3.5mm, and 6.3mm plugs plus a USB-C adapter mean one headset works across a wide variety of DACs, amps, and devices.
- Long gaming sessions — the eight-level adjustable headband with aluminum hinge and extended-length design aim to reduce pressure over extended wear.
- Users who want mic flexibility without a separate microphone — the full-band MEMS boom mic delivers 20Hz–20kHz voice capture without requiring a standalone microphone.
Trade-offs
- Shared or noisy environments — the open-back design allows sound to leak out and in, which is unsuitable for offices, shared rooms, or loud surroundings.
- Wireless-preferred users — it is a wired-only headset with no Bluetooth or wireless mode.
- Travel and portability — at 420 g and without a carry bag or fold capability, it is not designed for portable use.
- Noise cancellation requirements — active noise cancellation is not featured on this headset.
- Xbox users wanting balanced audio — Xbox consoles only support the 3.5mm single-ended connection; the 4.4mm balanced cable is incompatible.

Redefine to Transcend
ROG Kithara is built for gamers who demand true high-fidelity, audiophile-grade sound, powered by HIFIMAN's leading acoustic technology. Its open-back acoustic design and ROG-customized HIFIMAN 100mm planar magnetic drivers deliver lifelike audio with sharp, precise detail. Engineered for competitive play, Kithara features an integrated full-band MEMS microphone for clear in-game communication.
Full-Band MEMS Boom Microphone
Unlike traditional audiophile headphones that lack a microphone, the Kithara features an on-cable, full-band MEMS boom mic for crystal-clear voice capture for seamless team comms even in the most intense battles.
Sleek, Durable Metal Frame
The headband has eight adjustment levels and an aluminum hinge to ensure a secure, comfortable fit that accommodates different head shapes and sizes. The extended length enhances stability and weight distribution to minimize pressure across the lower cheek during marathon gaming sessions.
