ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 16 G635LW-XS97 - RTX 5080, 32GB, 2TB
The ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 16 G635LW-XS97 is a high-performance gaming laptop built for players who demand top-tier GPU power and display quality in a portable form. Equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop GPU, it handles demanding games and creative workloads at high frame rates on a 240Hz Mini LED screen. This machine is aimed at serious gamers who want desktop-class performance without being tethered to a fixed setup.
Why this product
RTX 5080 with ROG Boost overclocking
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop GPU runs at up to 1550MHz via ROG Boost at 175W (150W base + 25W Dynamic Boost), with 16GB of GDDR7 memory for demanding titles and high-resolution workloads.
240Hz Mini LED display with HDR
The 16-inch 2.5K (2560×1600) ROG Nebula HDR panel covers 100% DCI-P3, runs at 240Hz with a 3ms response time, and uses Mini LED backlighting for improved contrast and brightness.
Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX — 24 cores
The 275HX processor runs up to 5.4GHz with a 36MB cache across 24 cores, and includes Intel AI Boost NPU support rated at up to 13 TOPS.
PCIe Gen 4 SSD with up to 7,000 MB/s throughput
The 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD delivers raw throughput up to 7,000 MB/s, keeping game load times short and large file transfers fast.
Thunderbolt 5 and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity
Two Thunderbolt 5 USB-C ports sit alongside Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be, 2×2) and 2.5GbE wired LAN for high-bandwidth connections whether docked or wireless.
64GB maximum memory capacity
It ships with 32GB DDR5-5600 in two SO-DIMM slots, and both slots are accessible — the maximum supported capacity is 64GB for users who need more headroom.

Best for
- Competitive and AAA gamers who need a 240Hz display and RTX 5080-class GPU performance in a laptop.
- Content creators who work with large video or 3D files and benefit from a 100% DCI-P3 HDR display and fast NVMe storage.
- Power users running Windows 11 Pro who want a 24-core mobile processor with headroom to expand RAM to 64GB.
- LAN party and travel gamers who need a self-contained high-performance system with both wired 2.5GbE and Wi-Fi 7.
- Professionals who benefit from Windows 11 Pro features such as BitLocker, Remote Desktop and domain join.
Trade-offs
- Ultralight travel users — at 6.28 lbs (2.85 kg) and requiring a 380W adapter, this is not designed for minimal-weight carry.
- Long battery-life users — the 90Wh battery must power a 175W-capable GPU, so unplugged runtimes under load will be short.
- Budget-conscious buyers — the RTX 5080 Laptop GPU and Mini LED HDR display place this at the high end of laptop pricing.
- Users who never game or render — the thermal and power design is optimised for sustained GPU workloads that everyday productivity tasks do not require.
