The ASUS ROG Strix Scope II X RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is a full-size gaming keyboard for competitive players and enthusiasts who want responsive mechanical switches, customizable RGB lighting, and ergonomic comfort during extended gaming sessions. It combines hot-swappable ROG NX Mechanical Switches V2, sound-dampening foam, and a detachable wrist rest to deliver both performance and ease of use.

Why this product

Hot-swappable switches for customization

ROG NX Mechanical Switches V2 mount without soldering, so you can swap switches or experiment with different tactile profiles. The switches are pre-lubricated and tuned to reduce keystroke friction.

Sound-dampening foam absorbs noise

Built-in foam layer cuts pinging and echo, making it quieter for streaming or shared spaces without sacrificing tactile feedback.

Per-key RGB with AURA Sync

Each key lights independently and syncs with other ASUS ROG devices through AURA Sync for unified lighting across your setup.

Streaming hotkeys and media controls

F1–F5 keys launch Xbox Game Bar and recording functions. A multiwheel and function button control volume, media playback, and lighting on the fly.

Programmable and ergonomic

All keys are programmable for macros. Three tilt angles and a removable wrist rest let you dial in your comfort for long sessions.

  • Does not work with Mac or Linux without third-party driver support; Armoury Crate is Windows-only.

Best for

  • Competitive gamers who need fast, consistent keypresses and programmable macros.
  • Streamers and content creators using Xbox Game Bar and recording shortcuts.
  • Enthusiasts who want to customize keycaps and switches without soldering.
  • Users who prioritise quiet operation and reduced key wobble during intense play.

Trade-offs

  • Non-Windows users: Armoury Crate software is Windows 11 only, limiting RGB customization on Mac or Linux systems.
  • Wireless-only buyers: This device connects only via USB Type-C wired connection; there is no wireless option.
  • Those seeking a compact layout: The full 104-key size makes it larger than TKL or 60% boards for travel or tight desk space.
  • Budget-conscious buyers: Hot-swappable mechanical keyboards with per-key RGB and sound dampening command a higher price point than membrane alternatives.
ROG Strix Scope II X is an all-round battlestation, featuring hot-swappable ROG NX Mechanical Switches V2 with refined tuning, durable PBT doubleshot keycaps or UV-coated ABS keycaps for a premium feel and shine resistance, multi-function quick controls, streaming hotkeys, and a detachable wrist rest for enhanced comfort. ROG NX Mechanical Switches V2 — REFINED LINEAR: Based on the highly-acclaimed ROG NX Snow mechanical switches, the new NX Snow mechanical switches V2 are designed to meet the demands of custom keyboard enthusiasts. These switches retain the dust-proof, wall-stem design of the original series while adding an LED lens for enhanced RGB illumination. Each switch is lubricated to ensure consistent linear smoothness, delivering seamless and satisfying typing experiences. Key design has been optimized with mid-height keycaps (similar to Cherry profile keycaps) and a shorter stem to reduce key wobble, and provide a more comfortable user experience. A specially tuned, lubricated switch stabilizer greatly reduces keystroke friction, compared to traditional stabilizer mechanisms, giving you smooth and stable keystrokes for longer keys such as the Spacebar, Shift, and Enter keys. Built-in sound-dampening foam helps absorb pinging noises and echoes within the keyboard. The multi-function button and multiwheel allows users to control media playback, adjust volume, and tweak keyboard lighting.
