ASUS TUF Gaming A16 2025 Ryzen 9 8940HX RTX 5060 16GB 1TB
The ASUS TUF Gaming A16 2025 Ryzen 9 8940HX RTX 5060 16GB 1TB is a 16-inch gaming laptop built for players and creators who need strong processing and dedicated graphics without moving to a heavier, more expensive chassis. It pairs a 16-core AMD Ryzen 9 processor with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 GPU and a fast 165Hz display, making it a capable daily driver for gaming, content work, and heavy multitasking. A 90Wh battery and Wi-Fi 6E round out a specification set aimed at users who move between a desk and other locations.
Why this product
16-core AMD Ryzen 9 processor
The AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX runs up to 5.3GHz across 16 cores and 32 threads, giving it headroom for both gaming and processor-intensive creative workloads.
RTX 5060 with 8GB GDDR7 memory
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU runs at up to 115W and carries 8GB of GDDR7 video memory, suitable for modern gaming titles at the native display resolution.
165Hz WUXGA display with G-Sync
The 16-inch 1920×1200 IPS-level panel covers 100% sRGB, refreshes at 165Hz, and supports G-Sync via a MUX Switch and NVIDIA Advanced Optimus for smoother frame delivery.
PCIe Gen 4 SSD and DDR5 RAM
A 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD and 16GB of DDR5-5600 memory keep load times short and multitasking responsive, with the memory expandable up to 64GB across two SO-DIMM slots.
Wi-Fi 6E and wired LAN included
Tri-band Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.4 handle wireless connectivity, while a dedicated RJ45 LAN port supports a wired connection for lower-latency online play.
90Wh battery with 240W adapter
The 4-cell 90Wh battery is among the larger capacities available in this laptop class, and the USB-C port supports power delivery for more portable charging options.

- Ships with Windows 11 Home, so standard Windows software and game libraries are compatible out of the box.
- The USB-C port supports DisplayPort output, allowing connection to external monitors that accept DisplayPort over USB-C.
- HDMI 2.1 FRL output is included for connecting to compatible TVs or monitors.
- Two M.2 PCIe slots and two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots allow storage and memory upgrades after purchase.
- G-Sync is supported, but requires the MUX Switch and NVIDIA Advanced Optimus to be active; performance in hybrid graphics mode will differ.
- The 240W AC adapter uses a rectangular connector; third-party chargers must match this specification, though the USB-C port also supports power delivery as an alternative.
Best for
- PC gamers who want a 165Hz, G-Sync-capable display and a dedicated RTX 5060 GPU without stepping up to a heavier, thicker workstation-class laptop.
- Content creators who benefit from the built-in AI acceleration in select apps, the 16-core Ryzen 9 CPU, and 100% sRGB colour coverage on the display.
- Heavy multitaskers who regularly run many applications simultaneously and can take advantage of the 16 cores, 32 threads, and DDR5-5600 memory.
- Users who upgrade their own hardware, given the two accessible M.2 slots and two SO-DIMM slots supporting up to 64GB of RAM.
- Hybrid home and mobile users who need both a wired LAN port for low-latency gaming at a desk and Wi-Fi 6E for use elsewhere.
Trade-offs
- Users needing USB 2.0 speeds on all ports — one of the four USB Type-A ports is USB 2.0 capped at 480 Mbps, which may bottleneck some peripherals.
- Buyers wanting a professional colour-accurate workflow — Adobe colour space coverage is listed at 75.35%, which falls short of the 90%+ Adobe RGB coverage that colour-critical professions typically require.
- Users needing a Thunderbolt port — the USB-C port is USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) with DisplayPort and power delivery, not Thunderbolt, so Thunderbolt docks and high-bandwidth eGPUs are not supported.
- Buyers on a strict power budget — the system requires a 240W AC adapter and the GPU alone operates at up to 115W, which reflects high sustained power draw under load.
