ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ5A 27" QHD 210Hz Fast IPS Monitor
The ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ5A is a 27-inch QHD Fast IPS gaming monitor built for competitive and enthusiast gamers who need sharp visuals with minimal motion blur. It combines a 210 Hz (OC) refresh rate with a 0.3 ms response time and ELMB Sync technology to keep fast-moving scenes clear and tear-free. AMD FreeSync Premium and VESA AdaptiveSync support make it a strong choice for players running variable frame rates across a wide range of titles.
Why this product
210 Hz refresh rate via overclock
The panel reaches 210 Hz over DisplayPort 1.4, giving competitive players a high frame-rate ceiling without stepping up to a larger or more expensive display.
0.3 ms GTG response time
ASUS Fast IPS technology delivers a 0.3 ms (GTG) minimum response time, keeping fast-moving objects sharp and reducing trailing at high frame rates.
ELMB Sync eliminates ghosting and tearing together
ASUS Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync allows motion blur reduction and variable refresh rate to run at the same time, something most monitors require you to choose between.
Wide colour coverage for vibrant game worlds
The panel covers 95% DCI-P3 and 130% sRGB, reproducing rich, saturated colours that go well beyond the standard sRGB gamut.
HDR10 support with anti-glare surface
HDR10 content is supported alongside a 1300:1 contrast ratio, while the anti-glare coating keeps reflections manageable in lit rooms.
Variable Overdrive adapts to your frame rate
Integrated ASUS Variable Overdrive dynamically adjusts overdrive strength as frame rates change, so pixel transitions stay clean whether you are in a demanding scene or a stable one.

- Works with AMD GPUs via AMD FreeSync Premium and VESA AdaptiveSync over DisplayPort or HDMI.
- Compatible with NVIDIA GPUs; G-Sync Compatible status is not stated by ASUS, but VESA AdaptiveSync is supported.
- Connects to PCs via DisplayPort 1.4 (HBR2) for up to 210 Hz, or two HDMI 2.0 ports for up to 144 Hz.
- VESA 100×100 mm mount pattern allows use with most third-party monitor arms and wall mounts.
- The USB-C port is a service port only, not a full-featured video or charging input — video signal requires DisplayPort or HDMI.
- Height adjustment is not supported on the included stand; a VESA arm is required if height positioning is needed.
Best for
- Competitive multiplayer players who need a high refresh rate and fast response time to keep up with fast-moving opponents.
- AMD GPU users who want to take full advantage of FreeSync Premium and adaptive sync for tear-free gameplay across a wide frame rate range.
- Players who game in lit rooms and need an anti-glare IPS panel that also delivers wide viewing angles (178°/178°) without a dark room requirement.
- Gamers wanting HDR and wide colour on a 27-inch QHD panel, with 95% DCI-P3 and HDR10 support included at this size.
- Desktop setups with limited space that benefit from built-in 2 W stereo speakers and an earphone jack, reducing the need for external audio hardware.
Trade-offs
- Users who need height adjustment — the included stand offers tilt only (+20° to −5°); height is not adjustable without a separate VESA arm.
- Professional colour work requiring sRGB accuracy — the 130% sRGB gamut and lack of hardware calibration tools make it better suited to gaming than colour-critical production.
- Buyers needing 210 Hz via HDMI — HDMI 2.0 is capped at 144 Hz on this display; 210 Hz is only achievable over DisplayPort.
- Those expecting USB-C video input — the single USB-C port is a service port only and does not carry a display signal.
- Users wanting a peak-brightness HDR experience — brightness is rated at 300 cd/m², which is below the threshold typically associated with HDR highlights on FALD or Mini LED panels.
