TP-Link TL-SG1016PE 16-Port Gigabit PoE+ Switch 150W
The TP-Link TL-SG1016PE is a 16-port managed switch with 8 PoE+ ports for networks that need to power devices like access points, IP cameras and phones over Ethernet. It combines a 150W power budget with smart traffic management and diagnostic tools, making it suitable for small offices and growing businesses that want to consolidate power delivery and cabling.
Why this product
8 PoE+ ports deliver 30W each
Powers high-draw devices over a single Ethernet cable. The 150W total budget supports multiple simultaneous devices with automatic priority management if demand exceeds capacity.
Full Gigabit on all 16 ports
All ports run at 10/100/1000 Mbps with auto-negotiation and automatic MDI/MDI-X crossover, eliminating the need for special cables.
Network diagnostics and traffic control
Port mirroring, cable diagnostics, and QoS tools help identify problems and prioritize voice and video traffic to prevent lag.
Fanless operation, 75% energy savings
No moving parts mean silent, low-power operation. Intelligent power detection adjusts consumption based on cable length rather than drawing fixed power.
Desktop or rack mount
Compact metal chassis works on a desk or bolts into a standard 19-inch rack, fitting most network installations.

- Works with any IEEE 802.3af or 802.3at PoE device—access points, IP cameras, VoIP phones, and compatible powered devices.
- Accepts standard Ethernet cables (Cat. 5e or better for Gigabit) up to 100 m in length.
- Managed via web interface or configuration utility—no command-line experience needed.
- PoE power budget is shared across 8 ports with a 150W ceiling. If all connected devices demand more than 150W, lower-priority ports automatically shut off to protect the system.
Best for
- Small offices needing to expand wired networks without running separate power cables to each device.
- Deployments with access points, cameras, or phones in locations far from power outlets.
- Environments requiring traffic prioritization and basic network diagnostics without enterprise complexity.
- Quiet, power-conscious installations where fanless operation and automatic cable-length sensing reduce noise and energy use.
Trade-offs
- High-powered devices needing more than 30W per port or setups requiring more than 150W total PoE budget.
- Enterprise data centers or carrier-grade networks requiring advanced SNMP, SSH, or redundancy features.
- Deployments with 10-meter or longer cable runs that routinely max out the power budget, since priority cuts will disable lower-tier ports.
The TL-SG1016PE is a 16-Port Gigabit Desktop/Rack mountable Switch with 8 ports supporting the PoE+ standard. It provides a simple way to expand a wired network by transferring power and data over a single Ethernet Cable. With a total power budget of 150W*, up to 30W per port, TL-SG1016PE can power more high-powered devices such as wireless Access Points (APs), IP Cameras or IP Phones. Moreover, with innovative energy-efficient technology, the TL-SG1016PE can save up to 75% of the power consumption, making it an eco-friendly solution for your business network.
8 ports of TL-SG1016PE support Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) standard which can automatically detect and supply power to any IEEE 802.3af/at compliant device(s). In this situation, the electrical power is transmitted along with data in a single cable, allowing you to expand your network where there are electrical cables or outlets, where you wish to fix devices such as APs, IP Cameras or IP Phones.
TL-SG1016PE has a priority function which helps protect the system when its power is overloaded. If all PoE+ devices' power consumption is greater than or equal to 150W, a priority will be arranged among the PoE ports, then the system will cut off the power of the lowest-priority port. *Priority (port 1>port 2>port 3>port 4>port 5>port 6>port 7>port 8): This function will help protect the system if the system power becomes overloaded.
TP-Link Gigabit Easy Smart switch, TL-SG1016PE offers network monitoring for users to observe traffic behavior. With Port Mirroring, Loop Prevention and Cable Diagnostics features, TL-SG1016PE can identify and even locate connection problems on your business network. Moreover, administrators can designate the priority of the traffic based on Port Priority/ 802.1P Priority and DSCP QoS, to ensure that voice and video are always clear, smooth and lag-free. Additionally, to improve security and network performance, TL-SG1016PE supports MTU VLAN, port-based VLAN and 802.1Q-based VLAN functions. TL-SG1016PE is an upgrade from the plug-and-play Unmanaged Switch, delivering great value while empowering your network and similarly delivering great value to the end user.
TL-SG1016PE is easy to use and manage. Auto MDI/MDI-X crossover on all ports eliminate the need for crossover cables or uplink ports. Auto-negotiation on each port senses the link speed of a network device (either 10, 100, or 1000Mbps) and intelligently adjusts for compatibility and optimal performance. Compact size shell make it ideal for desktops with limited space while it is also Rackmountable, convenient and safe. Dynamic LED lights provide real-time work status display.
The TL-SG1016PE analyzes the length of the Ethernet cable connected and adjusts the power usage accordingly, rather than keeping the power consumption in a fixed state regardless of whether it is 10 or 50 meters in length. Fanless design reduces power consumption and ensures silent operation, ideal for noise-sensitive homes or businesses.
With its Desktop/Rack mountable design, outstanding performance and quality, the TP-LINK TL-SG1016PE 16-Port Gigabit Desktop/Rack mountable Switch with 8-Port PoE is a great choice for expanding your home or office network.
* PoE budget calculations are based on laboratory testing. Actual PoE power budget is not guaranteed and will vary as a result of network conditions and environmental factors.
