ADATA HD710 Pro Rugged IP68 External Hard Drive - USB 3.1
The ADATA HD710 Pro Rugged IP68 External Hard Drive is built for users who need reliable storage that can withstand harsh conditions — drops, dust, and prolonged water submersion. Its triple-layered construction and military-grade shock protection make it a practical choice for fieldwork, outdoor activities, or any environment where a standard external drive would not survive. The included Backup ToGo software adds straightforward backup capability without requiring a separate application.
Why this product
Beyond IP68 waterproofing
It is tested to survive submersion at 2 metres for 60 minutes, exceeding the standard IPX8 rating. IP6X total dust-tight protection is also certified.
Military-grade drop protection
Triple-layered construction protects against drops from 1.5 metres, meeting and exceeding military-grade shock standards.
Shock vibration sensing technology
Built-in shock vibration sensing helps protect data integrity when the drive detects sudden movement or impact.
Neat cable management built in
The integrated cable management system keeps the USB cable tidy and reduces wear from loose cable handling.
Backup ToGo software included
The bundled Backup ToGo application provides a straightforward way to schedule and manage backups without additional software purchases.

- Connects via USB 3.2 Gen1, compatible with any host that has a USB port.
- Available in Yellow, Red, Blue, and Black colour options across most capacities.
- The 5TB capacity is available in Black only.
- The 4TB and 5TB variants are thicker (26.7 mm) and heavier (390 g) than the 1TB and 2TB variants (21.5 mm, 270 g).
Best for
- Outdoor and field workers who routinely expose equipment to water, dust, or rough handling.
- Travellers and adventurers who want extra-capacity storage that can survive a bag drop or rain exposure.
- Users needing large portable storage who want up to 5TB in a rugged, portable form factor.
- Anyone wanting simple backup who will benefit from the bundled Backup ToGo software without sourcing a separate solution.
Trade-offs
- Speed-critical workflows — this is a spinning hard drive with no published sequential read or write figures; users needing high transfer speeds should consider an SSD-based option.
- Ultra-portable setups — the 4TB and 5TB variants weigh 390 g, which is notably heavier than slim portable drives.
- Colour-specific needs — buyers who want Yellow, Red, or Blue will find those options unavailable at 5TB.
- Warranty-sensitive buyers — coverage is limited to 3 years, which is shorter than the longer-term warranties offered by some competing drives.
The HD710 Pro takes external hard drive durability further. We test it to beyond IP68 dust and waterproof standards, plus make sure it passes military-grade shock proofing with triple-layered protective construction.
