ASUS RT-AX59U WiFi 6 AX4200 Dual Band AiMesh Router
The ASUS RT-AX59U WiFi 6 AX4200 Dual Band AiMesh Router is a dual-band WiFi 6 router designed for households and small offices that want fast, secure wireless coverage without ongoing subscription costs. It combines AX4200-class speeds with built-in AiProtection Pro security and AiMesh support, making it suited to anyone building or expanding a home network.
Why this product
WiFi 6 across both bands
It delivers up to 3,603 Mbps on the 5 GHz band and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, with support for 160 MHz channel bandwidth where regulations permit.
Quad-core processor for busy networks
A 2.0 GHz quad-core 64-bit processor paired with 512 MB RAM helps maintain throughput when many devices are connected at once.
No-subscription network security
AiProtection Pro, powered by Trend Micro, provides automatically updated threat protection for every connected device at no extra cost.
One-tap content filtering
ASUS Safe Browsing lets you block malicious content, ads or explicit material from search results without installing additional apps.
Expandable via AiMesh
Add any AiMesh-compatible ASUS router to extend coverage across your home or office using a single SSID and centralized management.
Flexible mounting and connectivity
The foot stand doubles as a wall-mount bracket, and two USB ports (USB 3.2 Gen 1 and USB 2.0) support file sharing, printer sharing and NAS storage.

- Works with all devices using IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax (WiFi 4, 5 and 6), and supports IPv4 and IPv6.
- Compatible with any AiMesh-supported ASUS router, allowing it to act as a router node, AiMesh node, access point, repeater or media bridge.
- Connects to a standard broadband modem or ONT via a single Gigabit WAN (RJ-45) port.
- 160 MHz channel bandwidth on the 5 GHz band may be unavailable in some regions due to local regulatory restrictions.
- WiFi 6 features such as OFDMA and 1024-QAM deliver maximum benefit only when connecting WiFi 6 client devices.
- Does not include a built-in modem; a separate modem or ISP-supplied gateway is required for internet access.
Best for
- Smart-home households that run many simultaneous connections and want WiFi 6 efficiency without upgrading every device at once.
- Parents who want built-in content filtering and up to 64 parental control profiles without paying for a separate service.
- Remote workers and frequent travellers who need built-in OpenVPN, WireGuard and ASUS Instant Guard for secure off-site access.
- Users expanding an existing ASUS AiMesh network, since it can operate as a router, node, access point, repeater or media bridge.
- Space-conscious users who want wall-mount flexibility; the foot stand converts to a wall-mount bracket with no separate hardware.
Trade-offs
- Multi-gigabit internet subscribers — the WAN port is limited to Gigabit Ethernet, so connections faster than approximately 1 Gbps cannot be fully utilized.
- Users needing more than three wired LAN devices without an additional switch, as it provides only three Gigabit LAN ports.
- Tri-band seekers — this is a dual-band router only, so it does not offer a dedicated backhaul band that some tri-band mesh systems provide.
- Non-ASUS mesh users — AiMesh interoperability is specific to ASUS routers; it cannot join mesh systems from other brands.
Experience fast and reliable WiFi all around your smart home with the RT-AX59U WiFi 6 router. It is fully backward compatible with previous WiFi standards and devices, so you can stay connected worry-free for all your internet activities.
