- Very large homes or commercial spaces. A single extender covers one room or adjacent area; multiple floors or buildings need additional units or a mesh system.
- Maximum-throughput gaming or 4K streaming. The 2.4 GHz band caps at 574 Mbps; real-world throughput on the 5 GHz band will be lower than the advertised 2402 Mbps due to environmental factors and Ethernet bottlenecks.
- Devices that lack Wi-Fi 6 support. The extender will work with older Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4 clients, but they will not benefit from 802.11ax speed improvements.
- Systems requiring multiple gigabit ports. It provides only one Ethernet port, limiting direct wired connections to a single device.

RE705X is more than a wireless range extender. Simply plug an Ethernet cable into its Ethernet port, and easily turn your wired internet connection into a 2×2 MU-MIMO dual band wireless access point. Set up and manage your WiFi through the TP-Link Tether app from your phone (Android, iOS), including TP-Link routers and range extenders.
1. The product may not be compatible with routers or gateways with firmware that has been altered, is based on open source programs, or is non-standard or outdated.
