TP-Link TL-SG1428PE 28-Port Gigabit PoE+ Switch 250W
The TP-Link TL-SG1428PE is a 28-port managed switch designed for small to medium businesses and surveillance systems that need both standard gigabit connectivity and PoE power delivery. It supplies up to 250W of PoE+ power across 24 ports, allowing you to run IP cameras, access points, and IP phones alongside regular wired devices from a single switch.
Why this product
250W PoE budget across 24 ports
Delivers up to 30W per PoE+ port to IP cameras, access points, and IP phones without separate power infrastructure.
28 total ports: 26 RJ45 + 2 SFP
24 gigabit PoE+ ports for powered devices, 2 non-PoE gigabit RJ45 ports for regular connections, and 2 SFP slots for uplink flexibility.
Automatic PoE device recovery
Detects when cameras or access points go offline and reboots them automatically, eliminating manual intervention and downtime.
Traffic prioritization and QoS
Quality of Service and Priority Mode ensure smooth video surveillance even under heavy network load, with IGMP Snooping optimizing IPTV traffic.
Intelligent power management
Automatically cuts power to lower-priority ports if total consumption exceeds 250W, protecting the switch from overload.
- Ports24× 10/100/1000 Mbps PoE+ RJ45 + 2× Gigabit RJ45 + 2× SFP
- PoE Power Budget250W total (max 30W per port)
- Switching Capacity56 Gbps
- Packet Forwarding Rate41.7 Mpps
- Power Consumption27W (no load) to 304.7W (250W PoE load)
- MountingRack-mountable
- SKUTPL-1235
- EAN6935364072216
- Works with PoE+ devices (IP cameras, wireless access points, IP phones) compliant with IEEE 802.3at/802.3af standards.
- Supports non-PoE gigabit devices (PCs, printers, IPTV) on all 26 RJ45 ports.
- Accepts standard Ethernet cable (UTP Cat5e or better) up to 100m for gigabit connections.
- Mounts in a 19-inch equipment rack with standard mounting hardware.
- SFP ports support 1000BASE-X MMF and SMF fiber optic modules for long-distance uplinks, but do not deliver PoE power.
Best for
- Surveillance system integrators
- Small-to-medium office networks requiring powered access points and IP phones
- Dormitory or hospitality deployments with mixed powered and unpowered devices
- Users needing automatic device recovery without manual monitoring
Trade-offs
- Enterprise data centers. Switching capacity of 56 Gbps and packet forwarding of 41.7 Mpps suit small-to-medium workloads, not high-traffic core networks.
- Applications requiring more than 250W total PoE. Power budget is fixed; intelligent management will deprioritize ports if you exceed this ceiling.
- Deployments without rack space. This is a rack-mountable device; it requires standard 19-inch mounting infrastructure.
The TL-SG1428PE is fully compatible with PoE devices, such as IP cameras, access points, and IP phones. It also works with non-PoE wired devices to provide gigabit connections, such as PCs, printers, and IPTV.
Compliance with the 802.3af/at PoE+ standard supports up to 30 W on each PoE port. The total 250 W PoE power budget* for the 24× gigabit PoE+ ports makes it has a wide range of applications, such as surveillance, offices, dormitories, and small businesses. It is fully compatible with IP cameras, access points, IP phones, computers, printers, etc.
TL-SG1428PE offers network monitoring for users to observe traffic behavior. Through its web-based user interface and management utility, the TL-SG1428PE offers a variety of useful features, including network monitoring, traffic prioritization, and enhanced QoS.
The switch automatically detects and reboots the PD devices, such as cameras and APs, when they fall offline or go unresponsive, guaranteeing the stable operation of PoE-connected devices, without need for manual monitoring and restart.
Automatically cuts lower priority ports' power to ensure high-priority ports' power supply when the total PoE power consumption exceeds 250 W. This protects the device from power overload operation.
