The TP-Link TL-SG3428MP is a 28-port managed switch designed for small businesses and organizations that need to power and network multiple devices across a facility. It combines 24 PoE+ ports with 4 SFP slots, delivering high-speed connectivity and power delivery through a single cable to wireless access points, IP cameras, IP phones, and other PoE-compatible devices.

Why this product

384 W PoE power budget

24 PoE+ ports deliver up to 30 W per port, enough to run most wireless access points, IP cameras, and IP phones without separate power supplies.

Cloud-managed via Omada SDN

Centralized management across all network devices from a single interface, with Zero-Touch Provisioning to simplify deployment.

56 Gbps switching capacity

Full gigabit speed on all 24 RJ45 ports plus 4 SFP slots for high-speed backbone connections.

Complete L2+ feature set

VLAN, STP, LACP, IGMP snooping, static routing, and advanced security including IP-MAC-Port binding, ACL, and 802.1X authentication.

Compact 1U rack form

Designed to fit standard 19-inch racks without taking up floor space, with dimensions of 440 × 330 × 44 mm.

  • Supports all standard PoE+ devices: wireless access points, IP cameras, IP phones, and other 802.3af/at-compliant equipment.
  • Integrates with TP-Link Omada SDN platform for centralized management alongside access points, routers, and other Omada devices.
  • Works in standalone mode via web interface, CLI, SNMP, or RMON for environments that don't use Omada.
  • SFP slots accept gigabit SFP modules only; not compatible with higher-speed transceivers.

Best for

  • Hospitality, education, and retail environments
  • Deployments with 20+ PoE devices requiring centralized power and data
  • Organizations needing VLAN segmentation, QoS, and layer-2 security controls
  • Small-to-medium businesses adopting cloud management and SDN platforms

Trade-offs

  • Large deployments requiring 48+ ports — this model maxes out at 28 total ports.
  • Multi-gigabit workloads — all ports are limited to gigabit speeds (1 Gbps).
  • Extremely high-power PoE devices — maximum per-port output is 30 W; devices requiring 60+ W need powered separately.
  • Layer-3 routing-heavy networks — it supports static routing only, not dynamic routing protocols.

Features 24× 802.3af/at compliant PoE+ ports, the switch supports up to 384 W total PoE power budget. Designed to use a single Ethernet cable for both data and power transmission, it offers flexible deployment for PoE-supported devices such as wireless access points, IP cameras, and IP phones, lowering infrastructure costs for small businesses.

Omada's Software-Defined Networking (SDN) platform integrates network devices, including access points, switches, and routers, providing 100% centralized cloud management. Omada creates a highly scalable network— all controlled from a single interface. Seamless wireless and wired connections are provided, ideal for use in hospitality, education, retail, offices, and more.

A complete lineup of L2 features are supported including 802.1Q VLAN, Port Mirroring, STP/RSTP/MSTP, Link Aggregation Control Protocol, and 802.3x Flow Control. Advanced IGMP Snooping ensures the switch intelligently forwards multicast streams to only the appropriate subscribers, cutting out unnecessary traffic, while IGMP throttling & filtering restrict each subscriber on a port level to prevent unauthorized multicast access. Static Routing is a simple way of segmenting the network and internally routs traffic through the switch for improved efficiency.
